  8. quintessential "dream cast." But Hispanic performers see a
  9. nightmare in the stars of Death and the Maiden, Broadway's
  10. upcoming play of passion and politics: a work with a Latin
  11. setting, performed by Anglo actors. Director Mike Nichols
  12. promised that Hispanics would be considered as understudies, but
  13. none were hired. HOLA, a Latino artists group, has filed a
  14. complaint with New York City's human-rights commission, even
  15. while applauding the production's one undeniable achievement for
  16. Hispanics -- the Broadway debut of the playwright, Chilean
  17. literary grandmaster Ariel Dorfman.
